House Rep. stripped of positions, budget, and staff for sharing ‘Great Replacement’ meme

Michigan state representative Josh Schriver (R) was stripped of his budget, committee positions, and personal staff on Monday, one week after he shared a “meme” depicting the ‘Great Replacement’ on X, formerly Twitter.

The picture depicts black figures covering most of a map of the world, with white figures in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and North America to represent the coordinated mass migration of non-Whites to Western countries.

What they are saying: In a press release announcing actions taken against Schriver, Michigan house speaker Joe Tate (D) claimed that Schriver’s post was full of “dangerous rhetoric.”

  • “Representative Schriver has a history of promoting debunked theories and dangerous rhetoric that jeopardizes the safety of Michigan residents and contributes to a hostile and uncomfortable environment for others. ”

In response: Schriver said in a statement to Detroit News:

  • “What I find strange is the agenda to demoralize and reduce the white portion of our population. That’s not inclusive and Christ is inclusive! I’m glad Tucker Carlson and Jack Posobiec are sharing links so I can continue my research on these issues.”

Context: The Great Replacement is a term commonly used to describe the demographic transformation of White majority countries through the use of mass immigration. Using policy as a tool, states then allow legal and illegal methods of immigration which is facilitated through local governments, corporations, and NGOs.

Why this matters: The political suppression of a Michigan State Representative for exercising his First Amendment rights to raise awareness over an issue, is an alarming development, and comes at a time when a large plurality of White Americans are already concerned about immigration’s impact on American ‘Democracy’.

In the headlines: Immigration continues to be a hot-button issue in American politics. On Tuesday, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was impeached after a Republican-controlled House passed a vote for removal. The articles of impeachment against Mayorkas would come amid a rapidly deteriorating southern border, which Republicans claim Mayorkas has continually failed to act upon.
